History of 18th century French literature in Tamil
In the French literature, the 18th century is considered to be that of thinkers and philosophers. The ideas propounded by them paved the way for the Revolution which broke at the end of the century. The contributions of Montesquieu( theory of political Science) Voltaire(social equality and justice) Diderot, (encyclopedia) Rousseau(Social contract) are,inter alia, dealt with quite extensively with tamil translation of large number of quotations . which have direct relevance to the present political scenario as for example the following extract from Montesquieu:
தம்மை ஆளும் பொறுப்பை மக்கள் யார் வசம் ஒப்படைத் தார் களோ அவர்கள் தம சொந்த ஊழலை மறைக்க பொதுமக்களையும் ஊழலுக்குள் இழுத்து விடுவார்கள்
